Peptides are lyophilized and shipped dry. Bacteriostatic Water is added to reconstitute the peptide into a liquid.
There are numerous manufactures and types of bacteriostatic water available. Peptide Warehouse does not warranty peptides that have been reconstituted with third-party brands of bacteriostatic water since the quality, ingredients and pH can vary significantly.
When a peptide has been reconstituted and has a cloudy appearance, this may be caused by one or more of the factors outlined below. It should be noted that some peptides (e.g. AOD-9604) are naturally cloudy and will never reconstitute perfectly clear.
1. Inadequate bacteriostatic water: The minimum amount of Bacteriostatic Water that must be added to our products are as follows:
a. 3ml vials: 2ml
b. 5ml vials: 4ml
c. 10ml vials: 5ml
2. Bacteriostatic Water containing sodium chloride: This type of bacteriostatic water may be suitable for some peptides (e.g. BPC-157), however using the Bacteriostatic Water containing sodium chloride will cause other peptides to remain cloudy and a gel-like appearance. The following is a non-exhaustive list of peptides that cannot be mixed with sodium chloride: CJC-1295, Kippeptin-10, AOD-9604, Epitalon, Thymosin Alpha-1.
3. Bacteriostatic Water with a low or high pH: The pH of of the Bacteriostatic Water plays a large role in how the contents of the vial will dissolve.
4. Temperature of the Bacteriostatic Water: Mannitol is a type of sugar - and like all types of sugars, dissolving is impaired when the mixture is cold. When mixing peptides, the Bacteriostatic Water should be at room temperature.
5. Age of the Bacteriostatic Water: An expiry date is published on the label. This expiry date applies only before the vial has been punctures. United States Pharmacopeia (USP) recommends when a multi-dose vial has been opened or accessed (e.g., needle-punctured) the vial should be dated and discarded within 28 days.
